PLANING: Timeline

I have produced a timeline of what I plan to spend my time on over the next 22 weeks. This will help me meet deadlines as well as helping with the ideas, planning and actual filming and editing of my film trailer within the period of time i have been given- 22 weeks.

RESEARCH: Thriller genre mood board

Here I have produced a mood board of the thriller genre, this is because I would like my trailer to focus on being the Thriller Genre. This mood board shows some of the typical conventions of the genre including colour schemes, such as blacks and reds. These connotate danger and i will try and include this in my trailer. I will also use a protagonist as a hero as well as a typical villain to meet the conventions and make a successful trailer.

The way to produce a successful music video is by sticking to the conventions of Goodwins Theory and using intertextuality. Intertextuality is the relationship between texts, films, which reference another, and form another media from something that has happened previously.

-      - Lyrics and visuals are connected to one another showing clear links
-       -Notions of looking, either a male or female being perceived seductively
-       -Demands of the record label, making the artist represented in a way that the label wants and this is obvious
-       -The video is based on a story of the lyrics or a performance
-      - Intertextuality to be included, clear links to other music videos, artists, TV programs or films
-       -The visuals and lyrics should have clear links to one another, complimenting or amplifying the videos meaning/story
-       -Typical generic characteristics of a genre for example in a pop video it is bright colours and dance environments
-       -Voyeurism, when the artist/ characters in the video are in compromising nature/ intimate scenes

This is an example of intertextuality, as it shows the Madonna is an icon and this is reflected as it shows gentlemen preferred blondes.

Intertextuality in more detail:
Intertextuality is when one text makes references to another. For example a TV programme or music video can make references to numerous other texts such as literature, TV, film, music or social references that are commonly known. Almost most media is created as a response from other references such as films, videotexts and music videos as well as other genres a massive example of this is the simpsons as they have recreated many situations via intertexuality. A few examples of this are below:

This is an example, which is not the Simpsons, can be seen here from the use of Dr Evil mimicking the actor on the right from a James Bond film.

This is an example of the Simpsons recreating the Nirvana album cover.

This is an example of the Simpsons making reference to a famous painting ‘The Persistence of Memory’ 1931.

Here there is intertextuality between Simpsons re creating a scene from Silence Of the Lambs.
